Megan grew up attending MCC. In her early 20’s she met Vernon who joined the congregation and they married in 2009. Shortly after they began to pursue a long held dream–  overseas mission. They joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Townsville to attend Discipleship Training School (a 6 month combination of character-based training based on Christian values, lectures and outreach). YWAM is an interdenominational, international youth focussed Christian charity that seeks to know God and make God known.

Ultimately they both fell in love with what God was doing through YWAM Townsville, YWAM Medical Ships Australia (YWAM MSA), and the dream God was placing on their hearts to work there longer term.

They now live in Townsville, working in a full time voluntary capacity and travel to Papua New Guinea regularly to join outreaches with YWAM MSA, providing health care services and partnering with remote villages in community development.

YWAM Townsville aims to serve, build, care and connect with the Northern QLD community, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. Megan and Vernon are involved in operational work while in Townsville. When on the Ship in PNG Megan tends to lead the Primary Health Care Clinic or head up the kitchen. Vernon works either as a deckhand on the ship or assisting in the kitchen.

MCC have been a key player in releasing Megan and Vernon into their work through financial and relational partnership. If you are interested in partnering with Megan & Vernon yourself, see one of the leadership team at MCC to discuss how this can be arranged or email them directly at
